Privilege Pay Account

With Privilege Pay qualified checking accounts may be overdrawn by writing a check or performing a debit card/ATM transaction. Market USA FCU allows qualified members the courtesy of writing checks or performing debit card/ATM transactions, when funds are not currently available in the member's checking account. Checking accounts are qualified for Privilege Pay monthly. You are able to view your Privilege Pay Qualification amount within Internet Banking.

In order to utilize Privilege Pay to cover overdrafts on ATM, and everyday debit card transactions, the member must Opt-in for coverage of overdrafts caused by use of ATM/Debit Cards. You may Opt-in for coverage of overdrafts caused by ATM/Debit Cards by contacting our Member Service Call Center at 800.914.4268 or printing, completing, and returning the FAQ - Opt-in form.

Although we don't recommend overdrawing the account on a regular basis, we understand that mistakes can happen. Privilege pay can save you from the embarrassment of a bounced check in addition to not having to pay merchants' costly return check fees. Also, Privilege Pay can be used to consciously overdraw the account while waiting for the next paycheck. By doing this, you can avoid excessive fees by writing only one check or making one ATM transaction for the funds you need. However, Market USA FCU cautions you to do this only in the case of an emergency. Please remember that each time an overdraft is paid via Privilege Pay there is a Privilege Pay fee.

Rate Information

The dividend rate and annual percentage yield may change at any time, as determined by the credit union board of directors.

Compounding and crediting

Dividends will be compounded every month. Dividends will be credited to your account every month.

Dividend Period

For this account type, the dividend period is monthly, for example, the beginning date of the first dividend period of the calendar year is January 1, and the ending date of such dividend period is January 31. All other dividend periods follow the same pattern of dates. The dividend declaration date follows the ending date of a dividend period, and for the example above is February 1.

Minimum balance requirements

The minimum required to open this account is the purchase of a share in the credit union.

Average daily balance computation method

Dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method, which applies a periodic rate to the average daily balance in the account for the period. The average daily balance is calculated by adding the balance in the account for each day of the period and dividing that figure by the number of days in the period. The period we use is monthly.

Accrual of dividends on noncash deposits

Dividends will begin to accrue on the business day you place noncash items (for example, checks) to your account.
